Bookshelf

Project by BamaCummins posted 445 days ago 352 views 0 times favorited 9 comments Add to Favorites Watch

My wife wanted a book shelf for my son and had saw one in a Pottery Barn magazine that she liked. I came up with my own plan and built one similar, but better of course. This started out to mimic the firehouse bookshelf that pottery barn had, but I didn’t put the pole in it or cut outs for windows. We decided to go with more the outdoor theme. As you can see the baby’s room needs to be painted again more suitable for a 6 yr old boy and add one of those canoe book shelfs to the room.

great looking book case. did you add a hidden shelf in the roof by any chance?
I keep looking for ways to add hidden components to my upcoming projects…

Very nice shelf. It looks like your son likes it too: “A place for everything and everything is it’s place.” What type of wood and finish did you use?

Looks like a great place for the “Swiss Family Robinson” and other great children’s books. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice comments. Made of red oak and the painted pieces are poplar. Never thought about a hidden shelf, but no it doesn’t have one.
