Bullet pen for the store

I ordered 5 of these kits from Woodcraft, along with the bushings and the 25/64 bit that I needed to drill the blanks. I drilled out the first one and the tip of the bit broke off! I’m not really impressed with the quality of this kit – the pen looks good, but compared to the others I’ve made – I’m just not feeling it. They are going to send me a replacement bit and I will try the other 4 kits. My Son grabbed it tonight, thinking that he would sell it rather quickly in the Gun Dept. of his Pawn Shop. We’ll see :-)

The wood on this pen is a piece of Bocote that I had lying around. I had ordered some Pens Plus from the Doctors Woodshop . This stuff is AMAZING. I sanded to 1000 grit and then applied 3 coats of the Pens Plus. I am really impressed with the gloss and finish that I was able to achieve. I highly recommend this stuff.

Looks good. I’ve seen those kits and used one on my first pen. I like the style….shouldn’t have a problem selling them in that gun section.

Great job buddy. I love this pen kit, and usually make mine with deer antler. We sure sale ALOT of these pens. Gun nuts will def buy them. I usually have orders for 30 of these for Christmas, the past few years. I gotta say, these are prolly my favorite ones to do. I really like the wood that you used on this one, and the finish is great.

Not only did you do an outstanding job on this pen, your photography is really nice with sharp image and great depth of field over the entire length of a small object (which can be a real challenge). Congratulations on a double win!
