Rustic, floor-standing headboard made from reclaimed 5/4 local red oak barn siding boards. The top rail is from a piece of chestnut found in the same barn that was slated for demolition – it is absolutely beautiful and peppered in worm holes, so I gave it a minimal treatment, routing the bottom edge and a couple coats of Waterlox. The rest of the headboard was given a light scraping with a cabinet scraper to preserve as much of the natural patina as possible and then hit with a couple light coats of satin spray lacquer.
