.....boxguy….aka Big Al.

I’ve been making jewelry/keepsake boxes for a while, but pretty much in my own style. But had been wanting to do something a bit different.

Then I stumbled upon boxguy and his works of art. I loved (can I use that word amongst “jocks”?) the soft corners and edges, the mix of different woods, the use of splines, and those evocative finger indents.

So I fashioned a simple spline jig (pic #5) and found a new use for the Ridgid oscillating sander (pic #6).

Hickory and Black Walnut. 11×6 x 6.5. I really like inclusions as well. So when I can I’ll keep them and either prominently display them, or let them surprise. I Like grain matching and will do that on all my boxes.

So, thanks again boxguy for your design inspiration.

This box gets delivered this afternoon.
