Project Information

This is the trundle bed Grandpa and Grandma made for our little princess for Christmas .
Made from 1/2" solid cherry with a beeswax and oil finish so it could be simply touched up as needed.
All the joints are doweled and glued because I don't like using nails or screws as they could present a safety hazard .
Size is 24"w x13"d x9"h to fit a 18" doll she is also getting .
Grandma made all the bedding and pillows so everything matches which is very imported to the little princess .

Wow Kiefer, very cute little trundle bed. You and your wife did an amazing job in the making of it. Sometimes working in miniature can be more difficult than full size. There is going to be a very happy and excited young Princess on Christmas day….great job both of you….:)

That is a great work done by both of you. The bed set is beautiful and a nice addition. I never got into making doll house furniture but things like this were a joy to build. Lucky princess.

She will love it. Great job.

We only had boys and have 3 GDs and 9 GSs so I don't know how to make girl stuff. Haa Haa.

Nice little bed. Is the rest of the house on the way?
Miniatures can be habit forming I'm told.

You are fine doting grandparents.

Very nice project, I love the look of the through dowels.

The fact that your wife made all the bedding is really cool, too. I'm sure it will go over very well with the little one!

Was working in this scale especially challenging?

It's a well designed and executed piece!

Thanks everyone for the comments and I always appreciate them greatly .
The bed was a fun project and actually easy to build once I had the scale figured out using the doll .
As I mentioned in the post ,the dowel construction worked well and in my opinion is a must with children's furniture as metal fasteners could be a hazard .
Time spent on this would have been the same as building it full size but then look who it is for ,a very demanding little lady .
