I had to make a box to replace the last one I made cause my wife and I know my daughters favorite color is purple. So there are a few changes but for the most part it’s a copy. The 4 sides and the top are raised. I added a tray this time. First I painted it gray then flocked it with purple paint to try and get it a close match to the purple heart wood. It’s 12’’ x 7×6’’ ht. Finished with satin lacquer. Purple heart and maple. Thanks for taking a look.

Very attractive box—really cool raised panels and spline in lid.

Like this a lot. The handles on the tray are real nice and the woods—maple/purple=heart—really compliment each other. You did good on this one!

Hey Dave, what a beautiful box, the purple hear and maple are a great match. I am sure your daughter will love it. I liked the first box you made but for some reason I like this one more….great job Dave and thanks for sharing.

Hey Jason, thanks , I hope she digs it too.

Hi John, I think I’m addicted to raised panels. I enjoy them too. Thanks.

jaykaypur, thanks. The dowel rod handles were a after thought when I figured it would be easier to pick up the tray with something.

Thanks for the compliment Dave. It makes me feel as good as if it were for me.

Nice! I like the ‘framed panels’ design and the maple/purpleheart play nicely together. Monte just gave me a nice purpleheart board so I’m looking forward to my first purple sawdust.
