I made a business card holder for my son-in-law and needed a box to put it in! (Pic 2) Business card holder is tan oak and rosewood. Box is 75 year old reclaimed white oak. Tried my hand at making a couple small boxes with lift lids out of scrap too small to make anything else with and too nice to throw away. The ends also serve as legs (Pic 3 and 4) Pic 3 is chinquapin with walnut ends and handle; pic 5 is also chinquapin with madrone handle and rosewood ends. The last long oval is similar to the posting “Gabe’s Box” but it is made out of chinquapin with chinquapin hinges. This chinquapin is a bit brittle so I hope the hinge lasts, but boy is the wood gorgeous. All finished with Danish Oil to bring out the figure and grain, a coat of wipe on poly and then hand rubbed finish of beeswax/orange oil, my favorite.

Looks like someone has been busy. A nice lot of boxes. The long oval one is super.

They all look great. Cool designs, like the wooden hinges and the long ones. Great job!
