This is the first of several that I am doing for Christmas. Five were purchased by friends and six are for family. The tops are Baltic Birch / Cedar with and oak structure. The base is flocked in brown while the interior is Medium Blue.
The 6 for family also incorporate a picture frame in the top (those will be ready this weekend). I’v been working on the run for a couple of months as I usually only get about 4 hours a week i the shop, and sometimes not that much. Though, I was starting to wonder if I’d make the deadline.

Nothing like being under the gun at Christmas, in years past, I have worked late on Christmas Eve. Nice boxes.

Very nice work! I see that the corner splines are quite long on the outside. Did you put a notch on the side that faces the interior so it didn’t show, or does it show on the inside?

the splines go all the way through. Originally I had planned to make a tray that would rest on the interior splines, but that got scratched as time got short.

Great job, your box looks great and well crafted. Like the clean lines and finish.
