This is just another cutting / cheese board made from figured African mahogany and Birdseye Maple. it is 11” x 11” and about5/8” thick.
I laminated the boards after cutting to length and running through the joiner. I used titebond 3 for its water resistance and clamped and glued it for several days while working on other projects.
When the glue dried I used a hand plane to flatten 1 side then I ran it through the planer to get it flat. I then used Loctite spray adhesive to glue a paper pattern to the board and cut it out on a scroll saw.
Then started a sanding marathon with all the nooks and cranny’s sanded to 320 grit. I then chamfered all the edges on the router table and finished with Howards butcher block conditioner.
I did this one for a friend to give his dad as a Christmas gift. I hope they both like it.
PS. I know mahogany is a little soft but mostly I make these for display purposes not really for everyday use.
