Mallet day

Made these after watching Roy Underhills “Big Ash Mallet” about three times. The heads are Osage orange and the handles are red oak and walnut. I finished them with bees wax, which makes great for gripping. I had everything laying around the shop. I’m giving 3 away as Christmas gifts to aspiring woodworkers in my family. Osage is a tough wood, those mortises took some real pounding.

Great looking mallets. I just watched that video yesterday myself. I see you took him up on his suggestion to make several at one time.

Bet you wished you had a mallet!

It looks like they will do the job very well.
