Lightning hit a quite large gum tree on my property several years ago and one half split off and fell. I could only salvage smaller branches with my chainsaw. Is is a quite dense wood and finishes well. The other day I turned this 7”X3.5”bowl for an engagement present. The rim was shaped using carving tools and oscillating drum sanding. The finish is sanding sealer and wax. Some worm holes add an extra feature.

A great bowl, I love the unusual rim. I’m sure the recipients will be over the moon with this gift.

David that is a really nice bowl. I like the rim and the finish that you applied. Well done.

Great organic form and practical function. Best of both worlds.
