About 30 years ago, I came up with a bolted construction workbench design. I wanted it to be somewhat portable so I could move it house-to-house as I moved. The top is 23” by 96, so I could rip a sheet of 1/2” plywood long ways to make the top. I have moved this workbench from Illinois to South Carolina, then to Georgia, then back to Illinois.

My son asked me to modify my design for a workbench for his house. He wanted to store his pickup truck toolbox under the workbench, and he wanted it 49” tall versus my 37.5” high work table height.

I built the bench, then threw in a 6 inch vise and 6 inch grinder as a Christmas present.

To see the trials and tribulations of building this workbench, see my web site.

39” isn’t a bench, it’s a shelf!

Nice job!
