Made these last weekend…had to pull an all-nighter…
Jarrah columns turned on a CNC lathe and fluted with a 4th axis CNC router… bases were pocketed to receive the columns… also on a CNC router…Acrylic engraved and cut with a laser…
I know you think this takes all the fun out of woodworking… did I mention I pulled an all-nighter sanding and polishing all the timber work and then hand rubbing with tung oil finish, prior to assembly.
Last two pics show the unfinished components.

Nice job Larry! Bet they were a big hit in the winner’s circle.

Looking good Larry, nice job. Lots of work no matter how it’s completed.

And worthy of another look.

Are they scaled down from 1st, 2nd, 3rd or is it just the photos?

I think the fun part in professional woodworking must be in delivering wonderful products and getting well paid for for them.

so how does this work mate, you put all the parts into the laser machine, close the top, and then presto, all of these finished trophies…wow what a machine mate…when you get a new machine, you really get the right one, ive got a kitchen cnc…most people call it a mixer, but hey, i put all the ingredients into the bowl, turn it on, and wow it will make a loaf of bread…:))

Great looking trophies! Those “all nighters” are neither as fun nor as easy as they used to be, are they? Hang in there, it was worth it.
