Well, I am working on getting pictures together of some of my past projects, share some of my better ideas with y’all. I’ve gleamed quit a few ideas from y’all, so it is only fair to share :-).
Anyway, my first project to post here is a storage unit for my daughter. Originally we got the single unit from Ikea, but wanted a double wide with the bins rotated 90 deg. Ikea did not sell what we wanted, so I made it.
Here is a pic of the unit we purchased:
And here are a couple of build pics:

Nice storage unit! What are the sizes of your bins and where did you buy them? Thanks for posting.
God Bless

Love it. Could use several with all my kids junk all around the house. I’ve got a stack or two of the bins in several closets and under beds. I’ve thought about taking an idea like yours and making a giant built in along a wall. Maybe doors. Another one on the list that will likely never be scratched off. thanks.

LoneRider – I’ve bought the bins for a similar project. How wide our the slots/dados you routed? How far apart are the slots spaced? How deep are the units? Oh, and what type of wood did you use? I was thinking pine panels or maybe plywood with hardwood edging.

I used clear pine, and wiped on 2 coats of poly to try to give it a bit of protection.
Click here to the Ikea TroFast product web site and the bins are here
From the web site Length: 16 ½ ” and Width: 11 ¾”, the tape measure is out in the shop, a lot easier to hit the web :-)
I made the slots about 11/16” wide and about 1/4 deep, but please play with the bins and a few test slots to make sure you like the fit. With projects like this I rarely create plans, just kinda go with the flow. Sorry for the lack of exact details.
cheers.
