This project was made to fit a certain large, empty wall in our house. The entire unit is made from 6 pieces of solid walnut. The wood is kind of special since it was cut from our own property. It’s about 7’ long and 18” high. The upper shelf is 10” deep and the lower is 8”. All pieces were milled to 3/4” except the back is 5/8”. I used a 1/8” roundover on all edges. The back between the upper and lower shelves is about 3/4” forward of the rest of the unit to allow for a french cleat. All joinery is glue and screws with holes plugged. The finish is a homemade concoction of satin poly, boiled linseed oil, and mineral spirits.

Thanks. Hanging stockings was the main reason I was in a hurry to finish it.
