My wife told me for Christmas this year, she wanted something I could make with the kids. Since they are both under 4 years old, I felt limited and stumped, until I came up with this idea; a breakfast-in-bed serving tray. For the base I used a chalkboard panel I picked up at the local lumberyard. The rest is red oak scrap I had in the garage. Since I am new to woodworking and don’t have many tools, I got creative to clamp the whole thing together by using a ratchet-strap. I also got to break in my new kreg jig. The legs fold up for easy storage and stay in place with high power neodymium rare earth magnets. So I think I hit a home-run here. I built her something. The kids get to be creative with it. Plus I can use it to score points over and over.
