Here are a few shots of an acoustic bass that I have been working on. I’ve learned quite a bit since I started this that I want to start from scratch. This has been one of the most enjoyable projects, however my wife doesn’t seem to have the same enthusiasm as she does when I’m making something more “practical”... Anyway, I pretty much made it with wood that I’ve acquired over the years: quartersawn cherry, bubinga, fine grain quartersawn red cedar (that was being used for a shelf in a basement), and some ebony.

Looks good, it seems like building a guitar would be pretty time consuming.

Man, arch tops are like the I Chi of guitar building! Very cool—I can’t wait for a report on how it sounds. I do like the use of wood varieties in this sort of instrument. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice, you must be having fun building this.
By the looks of it you’ve made some nice things for her, so its your turn.

I’m not sure, but I think it works better with strings. Just kidding. Great job so far. Please post some pictures when its complete. Also how about an MP3 file with the music that it makes.
