With thanks to Laney Shaughnessy, A Simple Design of Ocala, for the inspiration (and more importantly, the great detailed blog and youtube videos).

This box was for a great Great Niece who is into art of all kinds. Maple and black walnut finished with Formby tung oil and Black Bison wax. It gave me the opportunity, as a novice, to try a number of new techniques and processes.

Very nice Art Box/Easel, beautiful wood and I always like using splines. Laney has some great stuff on his site.
Thanks for sharing…

Excellent box for a young artist—gret design and very nicely constructed.

Great box/easel. I’ve got a number of artists in the family that would love one of these.

This is really cool! I kind of wish I knew someone who was into painting so I would have an excuse to build one myself!
