Finished up the last Christmas present! This is from Woodcraft magazine. I made it pretty much from the article but did make a few minor changes.
The eraser and ferrule are all one piece of wood and then painted. The plans called for a piece of PVC conduit for the ferrule. Also, the ferrules and pencil points were supposed to be joined to the body with dowels. I turned a tenon on the pencil body instead. Edge banded the front and sides of the shelves for a cleaner look. Added adjustable foot levelers to the pencil “points”. This pieced was designed to fit an offset wall in the bedroom of the little girls next door.
Pencils are glued up 2×4’s and the shelving is 3/4” birch ply. Acrylic paint on pencils and semi-gloss poly on the shelves.
Thanks for looking!
