I keep my kisses in it…Oak bowl /Mahogany lid.Saved these cut off ends from getting thrown in the dumpster as scrap..Finish is just turning wax…

Crazy how similar our pieces are today. Ive never turnd mahogany before, is it as hard as oak? For mine, going from dry oak to walnut was like going from steel to warm butter. Had to recalibrate the hands.

I like how your lid fits, is there a little lip on the underside or does it just plop down on there?

Yeah,Way cool.I like the way you turned the oak bowl up higher and made the smaller lid on your piece..That oak was hard, and the mahogany was nice. 100% opposite. Yes,I made a lip so the lid would fit a little snug. Mostly have been doing woodcarvings, but got this lathe out of my storage unit and made room for it in the workshop. I want to carve on some of my turnings. But I aint carving that oak.Too darn hard. Thanks for commenting…Dennis

Nice bowl for the kisses. Mine don’t last long enough to put them in a bowl.

Great save on the woods, it came out really beautiful. Like the shapes and finish. Great turning!
