After getting frustrated in mid project due to constantly moving lumber around I knocked out a few brackets for lumber storage. 3” wide, 10” vertical, 13” horizontal. Secured from above with a pocket hole and 3” screw with a washer and on the vertical piece with two 3” screws. I should have done this a long time ago.

I’d imagine the joint is far stronger than the hardware that is screwed into the stud. Did you do any tests for strength?

bigfoot11 – I hung my body weight (180lbs) from a single bracket and it didn’t budge from the wall. In series like this they should do just fine.

I did this recently for some of my board pieces but mine looks like a third grader did it. Actually, a third grader would have done a better job. :)
