Cherry/Maple Kerf Box

I’m sure this is not original idea but it was to me. I “dreamed” this design up while trying to come up with a no-glue box-design…that could be taken apart as easily as put together. It started out all maple but the maple sides “imploded” on me so I went back and redid them in cherry which worked out great. The box measures 5” x 5” square and the cherry sides are 5” x 4” x 1/8”. My table saw blade provided the kerf in the top and bottom pieces and I sized the sides thickness according to it. I realize this is not a daily top 3 project but I did learn quite a bit while building it and had fun doing it. It is finished with good ol’ Howards wax and buffed to the highest sheen I could get. A couple of the pics are before the finish was applied. I think it will make a great gift when filled with Christmas M & M’s and/or Christmas Hershey Kisses! Thanks for the looks and comments.

That is a wonderful box and the only thing that is missing to make it a nice Christmas gift is a nice ribbon .

Great gift idea, easy to ship or carry to family for Christmas.
I like the challenge of building without plans even if it’s been done before.

I really like this. I could see doing different angles and sloped sides. It could get sort of origami if you carry it a little further. Thanks.
