As some of you know, I bought my first modern lathe a few weeks ago from Harbor Freight( I do have a restored 1947 Sears Lathe). So many of you have taken to pen making I thought I just might try it for myself. It turns out that turning the pen blanks is a whole lot easier than making the boxes for them LOL!!.

I bought a Slim Line starter kit from Penn State Industries. The blanks were all Rose wood.

Thanks for looking!!

Lee, welcome to yet another woodworking addiction – pen turning! I hope you have a good source to dispose of the pens that you turn, it can get to be expensive and you are soon over run with pens :-). Your pen/pencil set and boxes are really nice.

Bill thanks, I think I will just make them as gifts and perhaps on a ”demand basis” I want to try my hand at bowl and goblet turning next then who knows what else LOL!!

Very nice looking sets and just in time for Xmas. I agree with cajunpen so there is no need to repeat. Enjoy making them, that.s the important part and the bonus is the appreciation that comes from the recipient.

Great looking pen/pencil set and box—nice proportions on your writing instruments and can’t beat the beauty of Rosewood.

Real nice looking pen and box set. I’m not a pen guy but that looks pretty nice for a first try. Nice choice of wood. Keep turning.

It is fun Roger. I can’t believe it took me this long to try it.
