This toddler bunkbed was built around a standard crib mattress, but it is “not” for real toddler aged children. I don’t think true toddlers would be safe on a bunkbed. My client’s kids were 7-9 yrs old but small for there age. This was built with poplar and pine, and again lots of mortice/tenon joints, finished ht. was 5’ 6”, MY client wanted a natural finish, so we went with polyurethane. I use 3/8” steel round bar, 6” long for all my bunkbed pins. This was my first attempt at a smaller than normal bunkbed, but I really enjoyed this project and my client and her kids were very happy with the finished bed.
