Multiples of Six

I haven’t posted a project in a while. Mainly due to the fact that I’ve just been trying to churn out stuff to meet the demands of our Etsy shop, and the four retail stores we sell at.

This week I received a custom order for 6 cat shaped cutting boards… and if you know me you know that I HATE making those cats!! I jokingly asked if he knew a lot of cat lovers (I really meant crazy cat ladies, but I bit my tongue). Yes, he does! He runs a cat only vet clinic in AZ and these will be gifts for his staff.

He gave me full creative control over the order. Not some picky jerk that wanted things a certain way.

Over the past two days I glued up strips, planed, cut the cat shapes on the band saw, sanded edges on the spindle sander, routed, sanded surfaces, and oiled… multiplied by six. My right hand is killing me!

I actually enjoyed making that batch of cats!

Speaking of things I hate to make… I also made 6 wine glass caddies. Made of various woods that were left over from making my sandwich boards. Finished with satin poly. They look pretty fab too!

they look great and I am sure the Vet will be back for more. I have avoided showing my cat loving wife those cutting boards because she will want some not just for her but as Xmas gifts for other cat loving friends Then there will be the question….”can you make smaller versions of them for the Xmas tree”
Thanks for sharing …have to get off of this page quick before she sees them.

This are really cool. I had to laugh when reading your post. We live on a farm and we have at least 50 cats, prolly more, too hard to count them all. LOL At least we dont have snakes! The cats take care of that. Much rather have the cats than the snakes. LOL Great job
