Made this for my daughter for her second birthday. I started with the plans that I found here and as usual quickly deviated from the nice easy plans that someone else took the time and effort to put together and turned it into an “I can figure this out” project. I goofed the first time I bought wheels for it and got the solid rubber one weighing just over 15 lbs each. Needless to say she wasn’t excited about a bike that weighted more than she did. Problem solved with some lighter wheels and she loves it.

Nice bike – she should get a lot of fun out of it. Not sure what you changed in the plans, but I think that whatever you did – it worked.

I thought I had put a link to the plans in the description but upon closer inspection I didn’t. Here is a link to the plans.

The only changes I made were to add shims on inside and outside of the back of the bike so that the nut and bolt for the rear axle would sit flush against the bike. I also altered the supports for the seat a little bit. Since the wheels were the hardest part to find here are the wheels that I used. The plan calls for 10” but I wound up using 8” instead.

Very cool bike, it looks way better than the plastic ones. I’m sure she’ll get loads of fun playing with it. Great job!

Have your say...
