Haven’t put anything up in a while, this was a compromise – if my son got a loft bed, he would postpone moving to a larger bedroom, avoiding the inevitable fight with his big sister.

Got the idea when touring the Iowa in LA this summer. The challenge coin embedded inhe silhouette I picked up on board. A friend’s dad as well as one of my work friends also served aboard.

Her nickname as president Roosevelt’s “Big Stick” it seems appropriate for a woodworking site. Sorry for the garage pics, but the unusual shape of his bedroom made pics difficult once it was in.

(edit to add a pic of the end stairs/cubbies)

Nice!... not sure how long it will be before bits start disappearing off the silhouette though!

Tell your son that losing an argument with his sister prepares him for life, when he will lose all arguments with women, especially his wife. Even if he wins he will lose.

Cool bed.

Nice tribute to a great warrior.

If you are ever in Des Moines, swing by the statehouse and check out the builder’s model of the USS Iowa. Not as impressive as the ship itself, but still a terrific piece of work.

Looks like she’s ready for sea trials. I’m not a fan of painting normally but haze gray sure would look purdy
