sometimes it rains

One of my boxes in a larger size, around 9” x 14” give or take, large shoebox size. This is cherry with a maple accent and maple liner, lauan bottom. Rough shaping with a chainsaw and an angle grinder, then lots of shapesanding. Spar urethane in a rattlecan.

I was asked to make a box like my smaller ones but bigger for someone who liked my work. I should have fancied up the inside more but most of my boxes tend to hold junk and sit on a shelf and look pretty, and I had already went way over budget on my time invested for poor return. But i still like it so, sometimes it rains, sometimes it don’t.

Great job and beautiful detail. It’s a winner.

This is really nice. You did a fine job on it.

It kind of resembles a caramel cake.

Great job on the sculpting. Excellent wood combination that will get even nicer as it ages.

Really nice flow to the sculpting. Good job.
