I’ve been asked for pictures of the process of making bowls,so here is part one.the first picture shows the lamented wood ,the top part is 1/2 inch thick, the bottom is 1/4 inch thick, the second pic shows the 1/4 inch rings, the third shows how i get the angle ,with 1/4 inch parallel lines. the rest show the work in progress.

Very clever, it must be torture on the scroll saw and the little blades?

Not forgetting having a very steady hand to produce such a fine finish on the inside!!

Thanks for sharing this.
So, I guess you determine the angle of cut by taking the thickness of your material and determining how much of an angle will give you the width of your walls?

the wood is a 3/4 ’s thick ,and i want to cut my rings 1/4 of a inch,so like in pic three i put too lines a 1/4 of an inch apart on the edgr of my board and go from bottom left to top right to get my angle ,which is about 18 degrees.i guess if your left handed you could go from bottom right to top left .LOL

Have your say...
