Hi

It is some time since I’ve made a contribution to Lumber Jocks, in the mean time have sold and built a new workshop (and home) and about to get back into bandsaw box making.

This work “Platypus” is a story box of a rare Australian animal the Platypus, the carvings tell part of it’s story. I hope you enjoy.

Box description ~

A four drawer work sculpted from one block of particularly beautiful Australian Red Cedar.

The fine finishing compliments this extraordinary timber.

Hand carved, depicting the unique Australian Platypus poking it’s nose out of it’s den. The side walls contain carvings of the predators (man is not shown) and the pup being suckled. Platypus make their home on the river bed, amongst the tree roots which are represented by the drawer handles.

If you are looking for bandsaw box making inspiration please visit my new re-vamped web site,

Thank you for looking

That is a great looking box Tony, good to see our Australian animals carved. The red cedar makes to project.
I haven’t tried bandsaw boxes so off to look at your web site.

Bob

Thanks for the good cheer.

May I say that making bandsawn boxes is fun, it is a time when the normal rules of box making can be ignored!

If you need any help with the bandsaw box making please ask, by email or posting a message on Lumber Jocks!

Bob,

I like to think of bandsaw box making as box making without the usual rules, where you will use and develop your Imagination, Creative Skills and Artistic Flair!

The Plans CD has full sized plan drawings, images, with easy to follow step by step instructions. It begins with the 101 of bandsaw box making and develops your skill set to the Intermediate level.
