I decided to build my son a bed rather than buy one. The plan is from Wood Magazine with some of my own diversions. Next will be a chest of drawers to match.

The plan came from Wood Magazine Issue #144 Oct 2002. It is the bunk bed and chest of drawers series, but I modified it to suit my wife.
The first two pictures were before the final finish. I decided to put two coats of wipe on satin poly and am real pleased with the results.
