Custom sized pizza peel to fit in an outdoor pizza oven. The picture quality doesn't show it well but its made from birdseye maple, curly maple, and purple heart. Finished with walnut oil.
Beautiful! Just curious - why did you decide to use walnut oil versus some of the other food safe choices? Also, how thick is the peel itself without the handle?
I decided to use walnut oil because I read that it actually dries and hardens as opposed to mineral oil…and I can buy it at Safeway. By the way, finishing the peel smelled delicious. The peel is 3/4" with a 15 degree taper on the front and sides. I considered tapering the whole paddle part on my jointer but decided against it as I didn't want to ruin what I thought looked nice already.
