This is a project that has been in the making since 2007! Yes I made the original box when I was in Iraq for my wife. I used only hand tools to make it and carve everything. The box set on our closet shelf for years. I decided for Christmas this year I would finish it. I cut the height in half and changed the base but I think it has to be one of my best pieces that I have made. Funny how the tools can help make the project nicer. I have no idea how they made such nice things before the tablesaw came along.

Very nicely done! And, thank you for your service both now and in Iraq.

What a lovely gift for your wife. Nice work.

Beautiful and thoughtful box, I’m sure she’ll treasure it. Great job!
