Square Spalted Oak Candy Dish

This oak candy dish was supposed to be rectangular but suffered from some weaknesses while turning. Sooo, I had to cut the “wings” off. I call it “Clipped Wings”. The bowl is about 8 inches square and 2 inches high. It came from an old 2 X 8 that got wet and developed some spalting. It is finished with satin lacquer.

Looks great, even if clipped. Very nice work. I’ll have to try a square bowl one of these days when I get ahold of a piece big enough.

It’s gorgeous! Like those awesome grains and figures on wood and love the winged shape. Excellent turning!
