This has been completed for an incredibly long time. It’s probably been in use for 4 or 5 years (or however long I’ve been on LJ). I just haven’t remembered that I wanted to post it. So here it is! It’s a modified design from a book I have on Arts & Crafts furniture. I used wood that was given to me FREE OF CHARGE (gloat!). The main wood is reclaimed Redwood, and the center stripe in the table top is curly cherry sapwood. It’s a great match to the Redwood’s sapwood. And the shimmer of some of the redwood boards is just unbelievable in the right light. I think they call that “chatoyance”.
The exposed/through tenon joinery was fun, but the extremely dry Redwood soaked in some of the glue before I could even wipe it off, and left a few light colored spots when the Seal Coat and Poly finish was applied. If there’s a “next time” in building one of these, or just in my next project with the same wood, I’ll pre-finish the parts that may be exposed to glue.
