I’m almost finished uploading some of my older projects, so bear with me… This is a table I finished in June of 2006 for my mother. It has a birds eye maple top (aka “King Chip Out Lumber”) which was a challenge to work with. The drawer pulls are made from cocobolo and the drawers were rabetted and plugged with cocobolo. I made this table before investing in a dovetail jig.

In progress:

Finished, but no finish yet:

Showing off cocobolo plugs:

Finished with several coats of Minwax’s “Tung Oil Finish”.

Thanks for looking.

I really like this. You did a great job brinigng out the best attributes of the materials you are working with. Good thing too… it would be a shame to have wasted that stuff. great job!

Thanks everyone!

Corey,
After planing the top to thickness, I had to do a lot of scraping and sanding in order to fix some of the birds eyes that blew out. Lots of elbow greese!

Looks awesome what type of joinery did you use to join the legs and aprons?

-- Great Coffee= 8oz strong coffee, 1tbsp brown sugar, 1tbsp 1/2&1/2, 1 heaping teaspoon mahoganny

Brad,

The legs are attached to the aprons using floating tenons. 99% of my mortise and tenon joinery utilizes loose M&T’s.

Thanks to all that commented!
