Serving tray made from cherry and left over ash. Designed to look like Canadian flag. Unfortunately no maple was available at the time, would have come out better. The final glue up was trickier than expected, about 9 clamps required and three sets of hands. The outside rails have 1/8 inch strips of plywood inset all the way around, which slide into the outside of the flag which has 1/8 inch groove all the way around it. Sorry no photo of that.

To get the maple leaf cut out exact, I had the craft store laser engrave through the cherry and ash to get the exact same size. Then swapped the leafs and glued together again. The ” leftover” ash leaf was inserted into the cherry and I glued up some extra strips, shaped and sanded it to make a nice trivet/hot plate. These are gifts for the inlaws.

Thanks for looking. Probably many different ways to achieve the same style board.
