Coffee table with threaded wood nuts joinery

This is a pretty simple coffee table with threaded wood joinery. Timber is recycled heart Rimu (a native tree here)

nuts are white oak, finish is tung oil

Looks cool. Very efficient approach to joinery once you have the threading and tapping capability. Nice rimu, where do you get it from? Do the nuts thread onto wooden dowels set into the top?

this rimu was given to me by a friend who moved to Norway. it was roof rafters.
yes, there are beech dowels glued into the top. they should have protruded a bit but apparently my math was wrong by 1cm….
