Just picked up a Jet mini lathe for a steal and after setting it up my Daughter turned the first pen in the family!! She’s a natural. Her Middle School tech education class has a woodshop but they aren’t allowed to use it anymore (Thanks lawyers!).

Who need school. Today she used a bandsaw, drill press, lathe and hand tools!

Welcome to LumberJocks. Congrats on the Lathe purchase, As noted above though watch it it is very addictive.

The pen looks great, hope she enjoyed doing it and look forward to seeing more. My daughter spends plenty of time in my shop as well and we are looking forward to the upcoming Christmas gift build.

As to the school won’t even go there. I am a proud graduate of a Vocational school that barely teaches anything now.
