I introduce to you, “Darby” the Wizard. “Darby” is a very contemplative, wise soul. He loves life and is the most positive soul. Peace and Joy are always with him, wherever he goes. “Darby” is very skilled in perception and can see through the outer layers of things. He has a way of restoring the love that might be missing in whatever setting he finds himself in. He loves being a Wizard and passing on his ways to those who exhibit Love for their world. I love his hat and beard! This knot has a lot of character that allowed me to do a flowing beard.

This is a link to see him in my etsy shop:

I have flattened the bottom so that he sets on a shelf and does not hang on the wall. He measures 11 3/8” tall x 5” wide x 2 1/4” deep.

He is carved out of an old growth pine knot. A pine knot is what a branch does when it goes into the trunk of a pine tree. The tree dies, rots and falls over, and the trunk eventually rots away leaving the knot. Very few of these are good to carve as the sun bakes them and eventually the critters eat them. It is my favorite wood to carve faces and fish with.

That’s a beautiful carving, Wiz. You are a very talented carver.
