I built this bed frame for my nephew about a year ago. My sister wanted a very rustic bed frame and this is what I came up with. It is made from construction grade Douglas fir. No stain was used at all. I soaked steel wool in vinegar then applied it to the wood. It causes a rapid oxidation to occur and make the wood look aged. Then I beat it all up with screws and nails. Finished off with a top coat if shellac.

Looks like a very sturdy bed and you hit the rustic lok spot on.

Love that headboard, very nice distressed and rustic look. I’m sure she loves it as well. Great job!

Have your say...
