I’d posted a shot of this on an earlier post when it was still in the early stages of construction.
A friend of ours had given us an old toy he’d had for about 40 years to see if we could use it as a pattern. A couple of the axle pins had been broken, so my son and I carefully dis-assembled it and used the parts to make templates.
The body is laminated from 2 sheets of 3/4” Baltic birch ply, while the legs and wheels are oak. I cut the wheels with a hole saw
The legs move with the wheels, and even the ears are pinned so they are moveable. Next step is to replace axle pins and refinish the original so I can return it to my friend.

Thanks for looking.

Cool design! I like it. I made a simpler one a while back. I like the wheel mechanics of yours.

Love the old toys! Was it difficult to get the legs to work correctly? Looks great! Thanks for sharing.

It wasn’t t0o hard. I used the lengths from the original. I had to tweak the shape of the foot end a bit to make sure it has a little higher than the bottom of the wheel so it didn’t hit as it cam around. I made sure to set the attach points on wheels at 180 degrees apart on the same axle to make the walking seem more realistic.
