Project Information

Living in an apartment can have some upsides (less space to clean up, lower utility bills in our case, pool and gym, etc.) but it also means that I have far less space for my woodworking projects than before.

However-as with other forms of adversity - when the going gets tough, the tough get going. I've found some creative ways to work with wood even within the confines of my own apartment space.

This is the latest of those ventures-a project inspired by a video I saw here.

The head of the mallet, in this case, is weighted with steel BBs (.177 cal)-and the faces are covered in leather. Head and handle are both oak. Used a spoke-shave to shape the handle.

That's all for now-but I expect I'll soon have photos of another bed I've been working on!

Very nice mallet luckysawdust. Check out askwoodman's steel hooped mallets on youtube. It's a fairly long video how-to series, but worth watching. Again nice job
