My brother-in-law takes me hunting on his lease every year. The trips usually last 3 to 4 days. I am not a horn hunter, so I am happy with a nice doe or a true spike that has been seen on the lease for two years in a row. I look forward to our hunts every year. I love watching the world wake up during the morning hunts and really enjoy the fire ring at night. The stories, the comradery, and the bs that flys around the ring is so much fun.

The box is made from quilted maple, cherry, deer horns, and hide. The horns I found in my front yard about 5 years ago. Someone was awefully ticked at their dog…LOL The deer hide is from the first deer I ever shot. This was way back in the early 80’s. I raised rabbits back then and was tanning their pelts and added the deer hide. It has been sitting wrapped up in the closet all these years. The lid is made from cherry and quilted maple. I milled the cherry myself…this was a first for me. The handle for the lid is a 30.06 that was left over from last years hunt. My BIL even lends me the rifle. The inside is lined with green felt. There is even a secret compartment in it. It has 4 coats of Tung Oil for the finish.

I have been in Phoenix the last 3 months, so it was nice to be home and get into the shop after such a long absence. I don’t think you will see another box like it…LOL

Very nice, I like the combination of materials. I might have to use this as an inspiration to incorporate some of the antlers I have laying around into one of my future projects.
