I have not been posting for awhile. I do plan to do so a lot more often. I started making segmented bowls about one year ago. This one is nicely colored cedar w/feature ring of maple and wenge plus a contour about in the middle. Most of the bowls made to date are appx. 6” high X 8” dia. size but different designs and material. Will be posting a couple more bowls today and will explain more.

Hi Roger,
I use the same on most every bowl. It is 3 coats of SealCoat by Zinsser ( it seems quite different from Zinsser Shellac) all sanded between w/320 while still on lathe. After taking off lathe and finishing bottom which gets 1 coat spray shellac it all gets a good 320 hand sanding then 1 or 2 coats spray poly. SealCoat not available in our town any more. I have been ordering from Amazon lately. Try it I think you will like.

Awesome bowl! Great shape, like the attractive wood colors and pattern and the finish set it off. Great job!
