I have been moving toward doing more hand work, and I have wanted a bow saw for a long time. I made this one using the plans and hardware from Tools For Working Wood.

Very nice job on that saw, Joe. You’ll appreciate using it more because you made it your self!!!!!!!

Great looking saw! Very nicely done and I’m sure you will enjoy working with it more than one you bought.

Nice work Joe. Is that hickory? I too have made this saw except from cherry. I did buy their handles as I don’t have a lathe.

No, it’s cherry. I’m a little disappointed the piece I used didn’t get very dark after I put shellac on it, even though I think it is heartwood. I cut it quartered so it would be more stable. Hopefully it will darken over time to that beautiful cherry color.

Its a very nice bowsaw. I’m working on the same project now and hope mine turns out as nice. How is it in action?
