Congrats to you. Funny when I think of it, that was one of the first things I did also. Good luck turning and lets see some postings from it. Use some of that cherry.

I also bought a used 1624-44. Great lathe. I do not do any spindles unless it is to make a piece to fix something. I make a lot of bowls and it does a great job. I am sure the bigger brand names do a wonderful job at a much higher price. Happy turning as you will be hooked.
