Spectraply bowls

These two “Spectraply” bowls were made about 2 years ago. The ply came in a 2in slab so I joined 2×6in squares to make a 4in block. Then I cut through the middle, but on a slight angle to create the off-set pattern.

The bowls are approx. 6in x 2in and the finish is Shellawax Glow.

First 2 pics are bowl No.1 and third pic is the other half. The colours were very confusing as they spun around but the result is quite stunning.

Thanks for looking.

Bob.

I agree!
Stunning to say the least! Love the look and picture #2 looks like it has an egg in it. Love it!
Nice work as usual Bob!

Real nice Bob, similar system to the polychromatic bowls and I know what you mean about being confused as the bowl spins on the lathe. Nice turning, is spectraply available in Aus?

Bob, It used to be available in Qld, not sure if that is still the case. I got mine from www.cousineauwoodproducts.com , I think. Google “Spectraply” and that will tell you.

Really cool. Definitely an eye catcher.

Pretty wild there Bob, don’t think that these rebuilt eyes could handle that thing spinning. Sure would hate to try an off center turning with projections on something like this. How thick are the ply’s?

Rockbuster, the ply’s are about 1/16. Yeh, those alternating colours do your head in.

Thanks everyone for your feed back.

Bob,

You have got to knock it off, the last time I think I saw a bowl like that was when I was smoking loco weed!

Otherwise you have some very good work !!
