Project Information
It's funny how I find myself wanting to start off my project posts with "My wife wanted…."
At any rate, having said that: My wife wanted a small book shelf to put in the kitchen for cookbooks 'n such.
I had some pine left over from my introduction to beginner woodworking wherein I constructed a pine bookcase (I will not be posting a project entry for that as I made entirely too many errors, but I learned a heck of a lot too).
Using a piece of plywood I created a template for the sides and marked the mortises. Once that was finished I cut the shelves out and did a dry fit. My cuts could have been much more accurate than they were, but overall I was happy with it.
Did the glue-up and then stained with Watco Dark Walnut and finished up with some wipe-on poly. I should probably take a picture of it in action instead of just sitting in the garageshop!
