About 3 years ago I was starting a fire (in my fire place) on my back porch and pulling branches and scraps out of a 5 gallon bucket I’ve been keeping next to the fire place. It struck me how ugly this old bucket looked sitting in my new addition. So I decided to build a box to keep kindling in.
In the garage I have a somewhat large stack of T&G 6” cedar and after covering all the walls in my room addition with this, I felt comfortable trying to make this from it. I knew I would have to make this kind of sturdy but I truly had no idea what I was doing. I made no plans and just winged it. I had some 3/4” plywood lying around and built a box and then did my best to wrap it with the cedar. Not having any hinges or income at the time I decided to make 2 wood pins (oak) to hinge the top and covered what I could with scrap cedar corner trim and base board trim. The ruff dimensions are 18”w x 12”h x 10”d.
For having no clue what I was doing I think it turned out well. I hope you like it.
